How To Pitch TEDx
Learn everything you need to land a TEDx Talk.
Everywhere I go, I meet people who want to give a TEDx Talk.
I’ve met amazing people this way. I wear TEDx teeshirts all over the place, and it’s like a magnet for interesting people.
Over the years, while producing 12+ TEDx events, video interviewing over 150 speakers, and coaching dozens to the red carpet, I’ve been able to fully understand what it takes to land the TEDx stage.
Giving a TEDx Talk generally changes a speaker’s life forever.
First and foremost, you get to share an idea that could go on to change the world.
And of course, you also have the experience of actually being on stage. Of putting in the hard work, developig the right idea for you. Rehearsing. Getting feedback. Refining. And finally, executing your idea worth spreading on the red carpet stage.
But what usually happens for speakers 6-12 months after the talk, is something they never expected. Something they never saw coming.
Someone will find your TEDx Talk, and share it with someone who is in your industry, and they will reach out to you. This will outreach generally comes in the form of funding, media attention, collaboration, partnerships, client work, career opportunities, etc, that the speaker would have never experienced without the TED and TEDx platforms.
Before all of this can happen it’s first essential to first understand what TED and TEDx are before applying to give a talk.
It’s also essential to understand how much time is required to properly prepare for a TEDx Talk.
And finally, you must have developed what the platform is all about – your idea worth spreading. We made a guide to help you discover the right idea worth spreading.
Once you have done these things, you may be ready to give a TEDx Talk.
